Hi, I'm Praveena,
mum to little Tara and the creator of all the dresses here at MulGlee. It all began after my daughter was born in 2015. I taught myself how to sew and enjoyed every bit of dressing up my girl in my handmade creations.
OUR STORY
The creative process of selecting the fabric, choosing the pattern for the fabric, sewing the fabric into the dress and finally seeing it on my girl was just magical. The passion for sewing and watching my girl grow up wearing unique handmade dresses in comfortable, breathable fabrics like cotton and linen inspired me to share this joy with other mums and little girls. MulGlee was born out of that very inspiration, in 2019 in Hong Kong.
WHY MULGLEE
MulGlee is a play on the Marathi word for Girl - 'Mulgi' and who doesn't like a little 'Glee' especially when it comes to Girls' dresses?
OUR CORE VALUES
MulGlee is a slow fashion label and each piece is handmade by me with love, care and attention to detail. Every MulGlee dress focuses on fun, elegance, comfort & quality. Fabric selection and classic designs are the bedrock of my brand. I handpick each fabric and carefully curate designs to offer. I work extensively with fabric suppliers around the world, particularly focusing on sustainable & breathable material.
Sustainability is not just a buzzword but very much the need of the hour. I try to offer dresses in fabrics which have been produced with sustainable and eco friendly practices. I also try to work with overstock fabrics in order to reduce fabric waste. I also use sustainable packaging and try to avoid plastics as much as possible.
SLOW FASHION
Since MulGlee is a slow fashion label; I don’t keep a large inventory and quite often make dresses after receiving the order. This means you always get what you want, with minimal waste but maximum attention to detail & love. However, like all good things, they come to those who wait.
Of course, if your chosen dress is in stock then I will ship it immediately but otherwise please allow 1-2 weeks for me to complete your order and send it out! If you have an event you need the dress for, don’t hesitate to get in touch and I can rush your order.
DRESS PATTERNS
I use lovely dress patterns which have been designed by talented women designers from different pattern companies, one of my favourites being Peony Patterns. The dress patterns have been tested by many sewists (me being one of them) around the world.
I am the fabric procurer, seamstress, accountant & in many cases also the delivery girl. I am just looking to add some Glee to little girls’ wardrobes one dress at a time!
